However, it is not leaking bad enough for it to get to the ground. They want $1300 to I guess install a new gasket. I know it involves taking a number of items off the engine to get to the cover.

Sep 22, 2016 · There are two timing covers for LS engines—one with provisions for a front cam sensor and one for engines with a rear-mounted sensor. This is a front sensor cover. The gaskets on LS engines are almost all the reusable O-ring-type, including the timing cover. We used Fel-Pro gaskets on this build.
Fortunately, the FA20 is proving to be pretty strong, even when laying down some pretty big power numbers. SCR didn't find too many surprises with the crankshaft, but did find one item of note. Compared with the EJ-series cranks, the FA has thinner rod and main bearings because the engine wasn't designed to produce the power levels of the EJ.
